Organization of Parent Teacher Guild of Christ the Divine Teacher School
The executive board is made up of the officers of the PTG, the school principal, and the committee chairpersons. The Executive Board attends all monthly meetings of the PTG.
Officers have a two-year term which begins in June. Officers are nominated by the members prior to the election meeting which is held in March of each year. The officers develop the annual calendar of events for the PTG, lead PTG meetings, and seek leaders and participants for school programs and activities, oversee action plans for activities, coordinate volunteer needs for the PTG and plan educational programs.
The President presides at all meetings of the PTG and the Executive Board, assumes the supervision of the organization, appoints all chairpersons for each committee, speaks as a PTG representative at school functions, and serves as a liaison for all committees.
The Vice-President performs the duties of the President in his/her absence and assists the President in carrying out his/her duties. The Vice-President assumes the duties of the President if the office becomes vacant.
The Treasurer receives all monies of the PTG and makes disbursements for items approved in the budget or ordered by the Executive Board or the membership. The Treasurer, with the principal, prepares a budget for the approval of the membership at the September meeting and provides reports on the finances at all regular PTG meetings. A written report is provided quarterly or upon request. It is recommended that the treasurer have accounting experience.
The Secretary records and reads the minutes of all the PTG meetings. The secretary also handles all
correspondence for the PTG and publishes the PTG newsletter.
Each committee has a chairperson and a co-chairperson. The term is one year beginning in June. The
chairperson presents the plans and activities of the committee and reports regularly on the progress of
those plans at the regular PTG meetings. The co-chairperson assists the chairperson and fills in during the chairperson’s absence.
