Music Program
Hello, and welcome to another fun-filled year of music! My goal is to instill an appreciation of music within all of the students at Christ the Divine Teacher School. Throughout the year, students will be exposed to a variety of musical styles, instruments, composers, musicians, history, and activities.

All students will learn the songs that we sing for liturgies throughout the school year.
Musical songs, activities, and units are often coordinated with the liturgical season, the four seasons, major holidays and other subject areas.
Students will learn American Sign Language to accompany many of their songs.
Students in the primary grades (Pre-K through 3) will participate in movement and dance during many of their classes.
Students in grade 4 will begin recorder instruction, while students in grade 5 will continue with recorder instruction. Students will be required to purchase a recorder and book (through the school). An informational letter will be sent home at a later date.
Students in grades 6-8 will be responsible for music assignments throughout the year. Assignments that are not turned in, or ones that are turned in late, will affect the music class grade.
Students in grade 8 will be studying Music of the Holocaust as it relates to the curriculum, presented by Mrs. Faith Kerr.
Participation, effort, assignments, tests and conduct are areas considered when evaluating students in music class.
I will continue to work with cantors and instrumentalists to enhance the music that is offered during our school liturgies, prayer services, assemblies, and concerts.
Extra-curricular music classes include group instrumental lessons (grades 5-8), Band (grades 5-8), String Ensemble (grades 5-8), Choir Chimes (grades 6-8) and Select Choir (grades 5-8).
Let's have a great year!
Sincerely,
Miss Molinaro
