Lenten Project 2010 ***See updated information below***
This year for our school-wide Lenten Project, our school family will work together to support the Sisters of St. Antoine of Fondwa, Haiti. Fondwa is a small village of about 8,000 people located in the mountains south of Port-au-Prince. Partners in Progress is a group from Ligonier that has been working closely with the Sisters for several years. They had built a church, school, clinic, guest center, and orphanage. At 4:47 p.m. on Tuesday, January 12, a 7.0 earthquake shook Haiti. Most of the buildings at Fondwa were destroyed. There is much destruction, deaths and serious injuries. Our school students, families, and friends are asked to set aside an empty plastic bottle to throw in their extra change. Sometime near the end of Lent, Mr. Richard Gosser, executive director of Partners in Progress, and Fr. Fred Byrnes, O.S.B will give a presentation to our CDT school/families. Both men have gone, and continue to go to Haiti to work with the missions there.
