AFTER SCHOOL CLUBS

Christ the Divine Teacher School is happy to announce the formation of a variety of after-school clubs.  Coming soon to this site will be a description of each club and a schedule of when the club meets.  As always, CDT is the place to be!
(This page is still a work in progress.)

ART CLUB - The Art Club meets every Thursday after school from 3- 4:30 p.m., alternating between Grades K-2 and Grades 3-6.  Students are exposed to a multitude of art media including watercolor, pastels, tempera paint, ink, crayon, and clay.  They are also exposed to the artwork of various artists throughout history and explore some of the techniques these artists used to create their art.  Gabby Nastuck from the Latrobe Art Center, as well as several local artists, contribute their time and talent to help the students learn the creative process.  Students' artwork was featured in an art show at the Latrobe Art Center in December.  Mrs. Seremet and Mrs. tallarico are the school sponsors of the club.

BOOK ADVENTURES - The Book Adventures Club for Grades 4-6 students consists of a dedicated group of readers who truly view reading as an adventure.  Each month these students embark on a new journey through the pages of a book.  Then, the group gathers together in the library to discuss the adventures they encountered through their reading.

BOOKWORMS - Bookworms is a reading club for the younger children.  Books are read and discussed.  The stories are developed through role play, crafts, and even food!!  Reading can be fun.

COMMUNITY OUTREACH CLUB - The Community Outreach Club is very active in serving both the CDT school community and the Greater Latrobe community.  Projects this year have included raking leaves, making Christmas cards for shut-ins, collecting food at Thanksgiving for the area Food Bank, making 25 gift boxes for area needy children, Christmas caroling for Latrobe's "Holly Jolly Christmas" and at a local senior center, making Valentine favors for a senior center social, and volunteering at Adams Memorial Library.  By working together to help others, students gain compassion, respect, and a sense of pride in making a difference in God's world.
The Community Outreach Club meets on designated Tuesdays.  Their next meeting is on Tuesday, March 13.

DRAMATIC - Dramatics Club is for students in grades K-3 and 4-6, meeting separately and learning different aspects of theater.  The K-3 students learn acting games that help them with public speaking, creative thinking, and team building.  These children also perform reading-level appropriate plays during their club meeting time.  The 4-6 students, in addition to the above skills, learn theater terms and basic acting knowledge.  They perform monologues and many improv activities.  The students in Dramatics 4-6 also are allowed to audition for the spring play.  This gives them the full theater experience, including costumes, props, sets, and staging. (Note: This year's spring play is Beauty Is a Beast.  It is a children's version of Taming of the Shrew by William Shakespeare.  Performances will be on May 17 for the matinee and May 18 for the evening performance.)

ENVIRONMENTAL/PEACE GARDEN CLUB -The purpose of the Environmental/Peace Garden Club is to encourage the students to take ownership of the school by helping to keep the grounds of the school clean and, more specifically, to beautify and maintain the Peace Garden. The Environmental/Peace Garden Club meets every other Wednesday from 3:00-4:00 p.m.

M.A.S.H. CLUB - The M.A.S.H. Club consists of a group of students who enjoy Mystery, Adventure, Suspense, and Horror!  The club members meet to create mysteries, to solve oral and visual mysteries, to read stories of suspense and horror, and to do activities that involve these genres such as a scavenger hunt and a board game.  The M.A.S.H. Club meets the first Monday of every month from 3-4 p.m.

PHOTOGRAPHY CLUB - The Photography Club takes pictures and are given tips on taking better photographs. The Photography Club meets the 1st and 3rd Mondays of every month until 3:30 p.m.
