What is Parent Share Day?

The kindergarten program has incorporated into its curriculum a special day to celebrate with parents every month. Parent Share Day invites the children’s parents to come into the school for an afternoon and participate in different art activities that go with the theme of the month.  For the social studies and science themes, the students travel around the world with their parents as they learn about different countries’ cultures and customs.  They also remain in the United States to learn about different animals and people who have touched their lives.  Some examples of Parent-Share Day activities include journeying to Germany and creating castles as well as creating Native American items to wear in school before Thanksgiving.  The students and parents also journey to the countries of China, Australia, the Arctic and Antarctica, and Mexico.  To touch on the science theme, students learn about large animals that once walked the earth--the dinosaurs. Each Parent Share Day ends with a snack associated with the topic being studied at the time.
