Special Programs
Academic support services are available for those students who have shown a demonstrated need. The support team includes a guidance counselor, auxiliary math instructor, remedial reading instructor, speech clinician, psychologist, and school nurse.
Ø Guidance Counselor – Provides counseling services to individual students, small groups, or whole classes based upon specific needs based upon teacher and/or parent referrals.
Ø Auxiliary Math Instructor – Provides auxiliary instruction time on an individual or small group basis. Math services may include reinforcement, skill practice, problem solving, and/or enrichment. Services are coordinated with the classroom teacher based on students’ classroom performance.
Ø Remedial Reading Instructor – Services are provided through the Federal Title I Program. Students are recommended for the program based upon standardized test scores, classroom performance, and report card grades.
Ø Speech Clinician – All kindergarten and first grade students receive a speech screening. Speech support is provided weekly in a small group setting for those who qualify.
Ø A psychologist, school nurse, and a gifted program instructor are also available as per student need.
